The LeftHand Partnership with VMware
LeftHand Networks has been a VMware Technology Alliance Program Partner since 2004. Together, LeftHand and VMware deliver virtual infrastructures, both servers and storage, that help customers lower capital expenses due to more efficient use of hardware resources, experience high availability of IT resources, and implement effective disaster recovery and business continuity processes to protect business critical information. LeftHand physical and virtual SANs are fully qualified and supported in VMware Infrastructure 3 environments.
LeftHand’s patented SAN/iQ software helps customers get the most out of their VMware Infrastructure. For example our built-in Network RAID works with VMware High Availability (HA), VMware VMotion, and VMware Distributed Resource Schedule (DRS) to provide a complete automated failover, failback solution between physically separated servers and storage resources. The ability of LeftHand NSM’s or Virtual SAN Appliances (VSA’s) to scale performance along with capacity allows customers to easily scale the storage infrastructure to meet the needs of the VMware virtual infrastructure.
The LeftHand and VMware partnership delivers:
- Product Qualification and Certification. LeftHand physical and virtual SANs are listed in the VMware Storage/SAN Compatibility Guide for ESX Server which validates interoperability and ensures supportability. Our Virtual SAN Appliance (VSA) for VMware ESX was the first virtual storage appliance to be listed in VMware’s Storage/SAN Compatibility Guide for ESX Server.
- Superior Customer Support. We have established processes for providing quality, responsive support to our mutual customers.
- Integrated Solutions. We continually work to integrate new technologies and products, such as VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM),to provide customers with more complete solutions.
- Cross Training. LeftHand invests in VCP (VMware Certified Partner) certification for our support and system engineering personnel. VMware support and field personnel receive SAN/iQ training and have access to LeftHand SANs and Virtual SAN Appliances. This allows each company to more effectively consult with customers on joint solutions.
- Collaborative Documentation. Together, we produce white papers, best practice guides, and solution briefsto teach customers how to implement simple and effective virtual infrastructures with VMware and LeftHand SANs.
- Go-To-Market Activities. LeftHand and VMware conduct joint seminars and webinars, keeping customers updated on the latest technology, andinforming them about emerging solutionsthat address their changing business needs.
